Mistaken Identity Part 1-10

Kouchi took Ryou to the final door down the hall.  Entering into the dark room, a candle was lit revealing the woman’s face.  Elegantly dressed, Mariko waved the man over to the table.

“Steak?”

“I’ll take a salad.”  Mariko smiled as Ryou clapped his hands together and grabbed his utensils.

Looking down at his plate, he began to eye the juicy steak but drew a blank on how to attack it.  He went with a safe cut and cut a sliver before resting it on his tongue.  It moved to the right side of his mouth and slowly chewed on it before swallowing it.

“Why don’t you cut a bigger piece?”  Mariko suggested as she nibbled on the lettuce.

Ryou cut a piece thicker than the previous one and stuck it in his mouth.  Chewing it in his mouth, he began to notice the lavender dress Mariko had on and nervously smiled.

“Ryou is something on your mind?”

“You have a nice dress on.”  He spoke through his chewing.

“Thank you.  I forgot to get you a suit but you look rather cute.”  She complemented.

“Is there desert?”  He joked as another piece was cut.

“Depends on what you want?”  She grinned.

Ryou wasn’t sure of the proposition as he hurriedly finished his meal.  Mariko gently lay the menu out the left side had a picture of a seven layer cake and the other was Mariko winking.

“This is a hard choice.”  He thought.

He pointed to the right and Mariko grabbed his wrist to the room behind them.
